What Is My Location?
Where websites think you are, and where your device says you are
Finding your location…
Two Ways Your Location Is Found
From your IP address. Every website can look up your IP in a geolocation database and get your country, region and usually your city. No permission is needed, which is why sites show local prices or content. Check yours on What Is My IP.
From your device. Phones and laptops combine GPS, nearby Wi-Fi networks and cell towers to find your exact position. Browsers only share it after you allow it on the prompt, and apps need location permission.
How to Turn Off Location Sharing
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Location.
- Safari on iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Safari Websites.
- Android: Settings → Location → App location permissions.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Permissions → Location.
Your IP location can't be switched off in settings. A VPN replaces it with the server's. You can look up any other address on our IP lookup.

Choose the Location Websites See
Connect to a SafePassVpn server and sites see that server's location instead of your city.
