Ping Test
Check your latency, jitter and packet loss, and your ping to 9 server locations worldwide
Measures latency, jitter and packet loss from your browser. Takes about 10 seconds.
| Server | Lowest | Average | Jitter | Loss |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare (nearest data center) | – | – | – | – |
| – | – | – | – |
Browsers can't send ICMP pings, so we time small HTTPS requests over an open connection. Server processing adds a few milliseconds, so results run slightly higher than a real ping. Nothing is stored.
What Is a Good Ping?
| Under 20 ms | Excellent for everything, including competitive gaming. |
| 20–50 ms | Great. Games, video calls and streaming all feel instant. |
| 50–100 ms | Good for most things. Fast-paced games may feel a little behind. |
| 100–150 ms | Fair. Calls have a slight delay and games feel laggy. |
| Over 150 ms | Slow. Expect noticeable lag in games and talking over each other on calls. |
Packet loss should be 0%. Even 1–2% makes video calls freeze and games rubber-band.
How to Lower Your Ping
- Use a wired connection, or move closer to your Wi-Fi router.
- Pause downloads, cloud backups and streaming on other devices.
- Restart your router if ping is suddenly higher than usual.
- In games, pick the server region closest to you.
- If you use a VPN, connect to its nearest server.

Ping Test FAQs
Quick answers to common questions.
Ping is the time a small message takes to go from your device to a server and back, in milliseconds (ms). Lower is better. It's also called latency.
Jitter is how much your ping changes from one message to the next. High jitter makes calls choppy and games stutter even when the average ping looks fine. Under 30 ms is good.
Distance to the server, a busy Wi-Fi network, other devices downloading on the same connection, a weak mobile signal, or a congested route at your provider. Wired Ethernet usually gives the lowest ping.
A little, because traffic takes a detour through the VPN server. Pick the server closest to you and the extra latency is usually 5–30 ms. A VPN can sometimes lower ping when your provider's own route is poor.

Usually the one with the lowest ping in this test, which is normally the one physically closest to you. Lower ping means less lag in games, calls and browsing while the VPN is on.
Browsers can't send ICMP pings, so we time tiny HTTPS requests over an open connection. That adds a little server time, so results run slightly higher than the ping command.
